Leveraging her extensive litigation experience, Lauren prepares your life science IP for future challenge
Lauren V. Blakely focuses her practice on patent prosecution and due diligence investigations. She leverages her substantial litigation experience to swiftly identify and resolve potential issues that may arise when protecting or challenging IP.
Lauren’s practice has spanned an array of technical areas, including antibodies, diagnostic and detection methods, medical devices, small molecule drugs, and fatty acid pharmaceuticals. Lauren has also been involved in prosecuting design patents.
Lauren has represented innovator companies in high-stakes BPCIA litigations for biologics products, as well as in Hatch-Waxman litigations, inter partes reviews, and arbitration. Her district court litigation experience includes formulating pre-litigation strategy; drafting invalidity contentions; conducting fact discovery; preparing expert reports and defending expert witnesses at depositions; drafting summary judgment briefs; and preparing for trial. Lauren’s patent owner-side inter partes review experience spans all stages, from preparing patent owner preliminary responses through oral hearings. Lauren excels at unpacking complex legal issues. She greatly enjoys collaborating with clients to craft winning strategies based on a deep understanding of their technologies.
Prior to joining McNeill PLLC, Lauren spent five years at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, where she had a mixed patent litigation and prosecution practice. While at Berkeley Law, she served as the Senior Executive Editor of the California Law Review and as the Annual Review Editor for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal.
